Why we are different

Neuroscience supports the idea that our minds are not separate from our bodies. That our minds, bodies, and emotions are all highly interrelated and are speaking to each other all the time — to degrees we did not previously understand.

Just as regular exercise and good nutrition are important to overall health and can be taught, mental and emotional health skills can be taught both universally, in group settings, and at the targeted level, individually.

OMBI differs from other mental health clinics in providing a universal (preventative) level of mindfulness-based mental health education in group formats that deliver fundamental skills more efficiently than individual therapy — and as well, we have the expertise to offer services at the targeted, individual level.

What we offer

OMBI offers classes and trainings that are based on the most up-to-date research. All instructors are qualified in their fields and are supervised by a mental health professional.

OMBI is intentional in ensuring diversity in our trainings and that all materials are represented by a diverse group of trainers, practitioners, and instructors.

Our services target:

  • Overall mental health and wellbeing
  • Stress management
  • Self-awareness
  • Emotional regulation
  • Neuroscience of preventive mental health (e.g., Window of Tolerance; flipping your lid; neuroplasticity; autonomic nervous system and how it relates to mental health)

Our customized services include:

  • Teacher and professional development
  • Training of teachers to implement the Attune•Ed curriculum
  • Facilitation trainings to support organizations in creating their own mindfulness-based mental health programs
  • Employee wellbeing workshops

    School-Based Preventive Mental Health Programs

Using our System-Wide Mindfulness Action Plan (SMAP), we help schools adapt the  Attune•ED curriculum to their specific culture and needs. Research-based practical and easy-to-implement lessons, videos, and worksheets support finding—and maintaining—a healthy relationship with emotions. The program is flexible for teachers and counselors to use and teach preventive mental health skills in a variety of ways.

    Workshops & Trainings

OMBI conducts workshops and trainings designed to support teachers, school staff, administrators, and youth ambassadors in teaching and promoting preventive mental health concepts and skills. Our programs, customized to provide shorter or immersive trainings, focus on research-based and culturally relevant concepts with an intentional effort to include diversity. As well, our Extern program with the University of Oregon, provides training opportunities for graduate students.

    Individual Preventive Mental Health Services

OMBI is dedicated to providing services that make preventive mental health accessible for all adults to learn on their own time and at their own pace. Through our print and digital materials, we provide practices that incorporate a mind–body connection, which is missing in traditional cognitive approaches to therapy. Our resources focus on powerful foundational preventive mental health techniques and practices to support mental health and wellbeing in everyday life and situations.
